Wedding Planning
Choosing our date and venue
This will probably be a part one post of two or three about the planning of our wedding. With so many details I could go into I don't want to bore you to death.
We got engaged in February 2019 whilst I was still a student, we discussed pretty soon after that we wanted to wait at least a year for me to finish my studies and having worked for a while to save some money up. We decided around March time for the wedding because of so many conflicting family dates and we wanted to stay clear of a more expensive summer wedding. It was only when we booked our venue we actually settled the date.
Where I am not from Plymouth and had never been to a wedding in Plymouth either I literally had no idea of any venues in the area. It was down to Callum and google to recommend places to check out, not sure who I could trust more! It was decided very early on we wanted a small ceremony, nothing big and extravagant because that's just not us at all, it's going to be my worst nightmare being the centre of attention walking down the aisle in front of just my family let alone all of our friends too.

The reception venue on the left is Mount Batten Activity Centre and the fort on the hill is the ceremony venue |
We were a bit flabbergasted at the idea but happily went across the road to check it out, we were absolutely stunned when we walked into the venue. It’s incredible and so perfect for us. Only holding a maximum of 25 people standing and 15 seated it would hold our immediate family. The small amount of decor is just enough to give some pops of colour against the stone walls built in 1652. The stairs up the outside and down into the fort are quite uneven and I will definitely be wearing flats on the day but it certainly adds character to the day having to navigate stairs in a wedding dress!
We’re so excited to be getting married in such a stunning and historic location, I’m just hoping the weather holds off for our special day!
Until we meet again,
